Importance of diagnosis

The doctor I've been seeing for my multiple aches and pains doesn't see the importance of diagnosing me with fibro-she feels like the diagnosis has no meaning simce it is not treatable. What are your thoughts on this? Basically I've dealt with lots of pain issues for years, and in addition had multiple sinus infections all last winter and never felt up to par the whole time. I'm not in severe pain, but never am well either. I sleep poorly due to not getting comfortable. What next? A different doctor? I'm not sure anyone in our area is really up on this-and if they are-I don't know how to find them. I tried asking around at the clinic where I work and also doctor-but got no where. The doctor I went to said she thinks I am nutritionally lacking something-that I needed to do a lot of reading to figure out what I am lacking in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Importance of diagnosis

Hi Normagal. I think a diagnosis is important to have in your personnel file at work. If you get to the point where you can't work or you need to take a leave of absence, you need a diagnosis to be protected by the disabilities act. Also, I think it might be important for your health insurance if you need to go in different directions for tests and treatments. Maybe you could tell your doc that you need a diagnosis for work.

Have you had blood tests for vitamin deficiancies? And it seems to me that most of us need nutritional supplements and vitamins. I've just started taking D-Ribose which is a supplement and Magnesium Malate. Amino acids are also important but I can't afford to buy all at the same time, so I'm trying to build it up, a different one every week or so. There's lots of info here if you look back through the posts.

Let me know how you make out with your doc.
