Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

Hi Everyone, I am newly diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and besides all the terrible body aches and pains, I was wondering if anyone out there also has hearing loss associated with this dreaded syndrome. I have had progressive hearing loss over the last few years and no specialist can explain why, but after reading little snippets hear and there on the net, it started to occur to me that perhaps "fibro" has also been affecting my hearing. Would appreciate any feedback, thanks, Jules

Re: Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

I have no idea if Fm causes hearing lose, but I was dxed in 1882 and after a few years developed tintinitis, (SP). I have lost hearing profoundley in the last 5 years and I am now wearing two hearing aids.
Without them I hear hardly anything includng the tv unless on the highest volumne, but do not understand the noise I hear.

I am anxious to hear any other input.

Hugs, Linda

Re: Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

I have had TMJ and intermittent clicking in my ears. First the left, then the right. Sometimes my ears have a stuffy feeling, like I'm congested but I'm not. It comes and goes, but so far I haven't noticed any kind of hearing loss. It seems like anything is possible with fibro, though. Peace to us all, Lily

Re: Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

This is interesting.

I've always had very keen hearing, but over the years my ears get stuffy feeling @ times. I get the shhhhhhhh sound sometimes too and when I vacuum or when the washing machine is filling I always thing I hear the phone ringing.......it drives me nuts sometimes. I have more problems hearing and understanding people on the east coast because they talk so fast. I'm a mid-west girl and I have no problem understanding anyone. I'm 53, so I expect most of it is due to getting older. I know that at times fibro people have thicker mucus in sinus cavities.

Can't wait to see what other people write on here.

Re: Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

I have tininitis? Ringing in the ears- constantly. Also hearing loss. Severe in left ear. Cant handle loud noises or people talking in the background. This all began about a month before all the pain hit.

Re: Fibromyalgia and Hearing Loss

The ear specialist I went to, told me that th ear noises, tinitis , is a sign of hearing loss.

I was trying to find some info concerning hearing loss and fm but found nothing.
