Vicodin is a very powerful analgesic that is considered to be more powerful than oral morphine. The combination of hydrocodone and paracetamol (acetaminophen) makes the medication stronger.
Yor doctor may have perscribed it because you are showing signs you are in a lot of pain. (Due to the fact this is a heavy duty medication)
There are many different doses of Vicodin, so you would first figure out your correct dosage.
However, there are quite a bit of side effects of this medication. You, and only you can do this, have to weigh the pros and cons of taking Vicodin to see if it's viable for you.
