Hi, I haven't been officially diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but my doctor has hinted at it. I don't seem to have pain in all the usual pain points, but I do have a lot of pain. My neck, upper back, rib cage, and lower legs all hurt constantly, and I have problems with tendonitis in my arms. I have had breast pain for years (worse during PMS), but for the last 2 years it has been becoming unbearable. I have fibrous breasts, and have had mammograms done. I have tried not wearing a bra, but this hasn't helped. I have tried Tylenol but it doesn't give much relief. Is this pain part of the whole fribromyalgia syndrome? Is there anything that I can do?
I also have problems with the upper torso as well. My legs are pretty good and what is wrong with them isn't fibro related, although I'm sure it makes the pain worse. There's lots of options out there. I suggest reading a book written by a doctor that has fibro/myofascial disease like I do. Her name is Devin Starlanyl MD. If you get the book, get the one with both diseases on the cover, it covers more. It really explains things well and answers stuff from being bothered from scents to how to do disability things. It's wonderful. I go to a pain specialist and have been with him for 17 years. I never had good luck with neuros or rheumys.
The breast thing, I've not heard of anyone with this complaint so far. Since you've got breast issues, I think seeing your gyn. would be your best bet for that stuff or he/she could maybe refer you to someone.
Hi Gail229, I am new to this board and also have not been diagnosed but it has been mentioned. I've always been tired, achey muscles, odd pains here and there but never enough for me to have it investigated......until chronic breast pain last year. I went to doc, she couldn't find a lump (pain is always left breast) but said i had a fibroid..Was then sent for ultrasound and was told the same. My pain comes and goes and is particularly bad at the moment, but doesn't appear to be related to my cycle.
I just get really sore pain that would stop you in your tracks, and also very painful if my toddler hits off my left breast. Is your's like this? Pain also comes on left shoulder blade and can nearly get pins and needles also? It's terrible trying to get reassurance as everyones symptoms seem to differ slightly and not alot appear to have breast pain? Hope you get some answers, as i said I'm new too so hopefully we'll both get some. I haven't been much help but if you could share any more symptoms.....who knows??
