I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the beginning of December. I also have some blood tests that point to an autoimmune disease but at this point we are focusing on the fibromyalgia. One of the things I was wondering is that I have bad joint pain along with all the muscular pain. Usually my wrists, ankles and knees. Is that part of fibromyalgia? I thought it was just muscle pain, not joint pain. I don't question the diagnosis at all because I have all the symptoms plus a bunch of the sister diseases (IBS, IC, GERD) but I am wondering if there is still something else. Thanks for any help.
my guess is the blood tests are perhaps to rule out Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is AI. I've been doing some reading up on fibro, as I thought there was possibility I may of had it. Seems all the things going on with me were medication side effects. Anyways, we are still working on it and some of the symptoms have subsided though many still remain. Someone mentioned TMJ in another post, and even that has returned with avengance during this med change.
My understanding is that the pain of Fibromyalgia is in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. My pain is so widespread that I don't know where it is coming from. I do believe it is Fibromyalgia. Osteoarthritis could be the other pain you are feeling.
I wish you luck and the best with your condition. It is no fun, but it is better when you know you are not alone. Take care. Kaitlin
