Bad hip and buttox pain

Hi everybody
It has been a while but I have been dealing with a lot of things. It is driving me crazy.
I have been having really bad hip pain. This is all the symptoms I have been having.
Tenderness in out side of hips
Tenderness at my upper buttocks to lower back
Swelling on my hips sides and down the back of my legs
Popping in both hips
Pain in both hips when sitting or laying on either side for a short amount of time
Pain can get really bad when walking it brings me to my knees then I can't walk
Pain in my buttocks
I have seen all kinds of doctors and I'm so aggravated first one told me it was hip bursitis done everything he said except for the cortisone shots but it hasn't went away completely,my specialist said it was my fibro then when I mentioned that if it was my fibro making my hips hurt then why isn't the Lyrica not helping them so I don't think he really knows what it is but this last time he seemed to think it was something going on with a nerve so I ended up getting a cortisone shot where it was hurting the most that day which was in the upper part of my buttocks. That didn't help much either just for about an hour then back to the same old pain. I have had x-rays of my hips and they seem to have no arthritis in them and that is all I have done. Because I just had an MRI on my head that cost me a lot of money. Now it is too late for an MRI on my hips because my insurance had start over again with a 1500.00 deducible and I just can't afford that right now. Plus going to lose insurance at the end Jan. But I will not go into any of that since that is another whole problem. So please if anybody has had these symptoms and has gotten a diagnoses and knows what this is or what it might be please share your knowledge with me it will be very appreciated.

Re: Bad hip and buttox pain

I have hip pain also and the only explanation I've gotten is from my chiropractor that says my hips, for some odd reason are always out of alignment. I don't know if that helps or not and I don't know whether it's related to the fibro or not.

Hi Diva425, I have fibro and have suffered from hip pain, amongst other pains. If you have fibro it is unlikely that your hips are out of alignment. I have pretty much solved my pain problem. May I ask what protocol (medications) you are on? Regards. Tony

Thanks for your reply but I should have mentioned it below but I have been to a chiropractor he started out messing with my hips but he stopped because it made mine worse. He didn't understand why popping or messing with my hips made it worse so he sent me to someone else. I wished I could have went to the doctor he recommended but he was not on my insurance so I ended up going to some nut that didn't know anything.
I have probably left out some more things in my thread because I can't think of anything anymore. Ahh good old Fibro. I'm sorry you are having hip pain as well. Does it feel better when he gets your hip back in alignment?

Hi Tony
I know you was not talking to me but can I ask you a question. Does your pain in your hips sound like mine? Maybe it is from my Fibro. I really don't know everything about Fibro I just was diagnosed with it about 6 months now. I still have a lot to learn. Do you think if mine was caused by Fibro that the medication Lyrica would help it? That is was is confusing me. What medication are you on? Does it help your hip pain? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Thats good that you can get some relief of your pain in your hips and butt. I wish I could. He gave me pain pills to help with the pain but it doesn't do much.
I just noticed something funny! My brain works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't I don't know why I spelled buttocks like that in my title. My goodness I'm falling apart. I do that all the time. I know how to spell one minute and the next I don't......

have you tried ibroprofn or pamprin. if not try a heading pad or hot shower. Usually if i'm in a lot of pain a hot shower does wonders. Don't worry about your spelling.

I can't use pamprin I'm allergic to aspirin. The only thing that I found I can take is Tylenol. It does nothing. I don't know if ibuprofen has aspirin in it or not I tried a lot different pills over the counter and I had bad reactions too everyone I tried. I have tried---Orudis kt,Advil, motrin,Aleve,Excedrin (can't take it because I can't have caffeine either. Hot pad helps sometimes and so does Epsom salt. I think that is where I'm going to go in a few minutes a good old Epsom salt bath. Yeh..

oh that's too bad. Sometimes the pain is so bad that no pill seem to work. I'm not sure if ibuprofen has aspirin in it. I did get a moist heating pad that really works but it gets you all wet in the process. lol I need to take something tonight my back really hurts today.

Re: Bad hip and buttox pain

Funny, I was just coming over to start a thread about hip pain! It's pretty new for me (about 1 month), but since it's bilateral and pretty similar to my other joint pain, my dr. says it's definitely the fibro. Great.

Lying in bed kills me, so my husband suggested getting a memory foam mattress topper or mattress. We'll do that this weekend and I'll repor back as to whether it helped.

Hang in there!

Re: Bad hip and buttox pain

Have any of you girls thought about it being your sacriliac? I do have fibro, but when I had this pain it was horrible, I could barely walk, sit or lay down. The pain was in my hip and all the way down my leg. I went to an orthopedic specialists and he confirmed that it was my sacriliac, he said sometimes it will just go out and there isn't too much you can do about it. I took Ibuprofen which by the way does not have aspirin in it. Anyway, it took about a month but it did finally go away. Two weeks ago, I hurt my other side of hip, same kind of pain, but this time it went away in 2 weeks thank goodness! I did not do anything to cause this, the irst time I was making the bed, and the second time I was bent over taking groceries out of the car.

Sunny

Re: Bad hip and buttox pain

Hi T, what you and Diva425 describe is exactly what I experienced - but not just in my hips, my arms and legs as well. For the pain I take Diclophenac (Diclohexal), Devil's Claw, Omega 3, 6 & 9, Magnesium and Vitamin D. For the other aspects of fibro I take (because I had cancer) Quercetin, Multi-vitamins with probiotics, Ginko Biloba and now more recently CoQ10. With this combination I am pain free and able to function. I just get sleepy around 11:00 AM and then at night from about 7:30 PM all I want to do is sleep. There is a lot of advice from other folk on this discussion forum. Explore a little and see what they have to say. I have certainly learned a lot and I am the better for it. All the best. Tony

Re: Bad hip and buttox pain

Hi T, me again. I also take Ibuprofen (perhaps it is spelt slightly differently in your country). No it does not contain asprin. It works quite well and reduces the imflamation. You must be careful not to take too much of it as it will damage your stomach lining. Regards. Tony
