Unhappy any help or advice would be appreciated

I have had fibro for about 6 years. I finally had some releif by using 20mg ocycontin 2Xs per day, proxac, and ambien. then out of no where the doc changed my meds to 10 mg oxys and vicodin 2Xs per day. I feel SO bad I can't explain. You all ca imagine how I feel. I quit my job of 10 years, I couldn't tollerate the stress, the mind fog anymore. It was quit or lose the job due to time off due to illness. Now I have been watching jobs in paper but I don't honestly feel I can work at the ones I have seen. I need to know what I can do to feel human again.
Thank you:

Sometimes the meds can make you feel bad also. I like Lyrica but I had side effect from it. The worse was the memory it was frustrating. Your pharmacist is a great person to talk to . I think they know more about the drugs than the doctors. My pharmacist Darcy recommends thing to me and then I tell the doctor what she says. He is great that way he has no problem with it.
I to am bothered with work. Deep down I know I can not do it, but I would like to. I couldn't last more than an hour doing something, and then it would take me two or three days to recuperate.
I sure hope you can find something that makes you feel better. Chin up spring will soon be here, winter can be very depressing and makes you feel worse. Take care.

Did you tell your doctor about how the new regimin is affecting you? How odd that he/she would do this when you seemed to be doing okay prior to the change. A couple of suggestions is asking for a referral to a pain management clinic. Another is doing some research on your own. If there is something interesting you would like to try, you could ask your doctor. There are many good books on FMS on the market and there are interesting things to read about online.

Bye!
Kirstee

Thank you:
You may be in withdrawals from the stopping the oxycontin. w/d is very painful and depressing. Try malic acid and magnesium for the pain and l-tyrosene to lift your mood and give you some energy. I take 1500 mg a day. But you can take more. It is from the "Thomas Recipe" on the addiction board. (Not that you are an addict but you developed a physical dependence to a time release opiate. Also B12 helps with brain function and mood and energy but has to be sublingual or the body can't absorb it and also needs to be taken with a b complex tablet because all the B's work together. At least that's what I have read.

I take percocet also but if i miss a dose, i hurt so bad. Your body is used to time release so it will take time to get over the withdrawal on top of the fibro pain.

With work, i had to quit too and got on ssdi, now working part time and am now with no brainfog but it is difficult to learn and i haven't been able to learn about half of my job, I will, i just need some extra training so maybe that will happen soon. I only work part time and don't really want to work full time, but i have gotten so much better it is just about time.

I have gained a lot of weight. 4 years ago i weighed 120. Today I am 210 lbs. I hate it. And my feet hurt so much so I can't walk or put weight on them to get some exercise. also with plantar fascitis. enough about me.

Counseling also helped me when i had to quit working. I worked since i was 15except for when my kids were little. It was through a community counseling center so I only had to pay $5.00 per visit. It helped me so much to go through the grieving process of losing my health and my job.

I don't know if you have chronic myofascial pain, but I do and trigger point (not tender point) injections into muscle knots has been the key to me getting better.

I felt so lost and hopeless when i was real sick at the beginning and i know that you have had this for awhile now, but try to have a treatment plan and see health care providers that will help you heal as much as possible. Empower yourself with information and action. Don't let this illness take you down and make you a victim.

It took 4 years, but i am so much better. I have pain and stiffness, but my meds work and i only flare when the a cold front comes in. We are all different. There are a lot of books out there about the mind body connection and fibromyalgia is a central nervous system disorder. and that includes the brain. Thats why so many of us have depression and brain fog. Sugar makes the fog worse.

I hope i helped, I jumped around a bit, but i kept getting interrupted. Take what you want and leave the rest.

Re: any help or advice would be appreciated

I would talk with the doctor and the pharmacist. I take fish oil which helps with memory and brain fog.

Best to ya,
Pam
