Has anyone tried SAMe for Fibromyalgia? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

I read it's supposed to be good for people with FM, that it helps with the aches and pains and depression. Anyone tried it? I think I'm going to give it whirl and see.

I would be very interested to know what benefit or lack of benefit you feel you get from taking SAMe. Please post your thoughts, opinions, etc... later on!

The actual name is S-adenosyl-L-methionine, but SAMe for short, pronounced "Sammy". What I've read about it says it's been shown to be effective in reducing chronic pain and depression associated with Fibromyalgia. It's also supposed to be great for the liver. I don't know how much information I can post here so I'll leave it at that. The only thing is that it can't be taken with SSRI's or SNRI's because there's a chance of a serious interaction so I'm tapering off my Pamelor so I can try it. The things I've read about it have really impressed me so I want to see if it will work like it's supposed to.

Hi jann71, I am taking Sam-e right now but so far I really haven't notice a difference, maybe a little more energy. I have only been taking it for about a mouth now so maybe it will start working better over time. I got mine at Walgreens, it's a natures made brand and it was on sale for buy one get one free. Let me know if you try it and what you think.
