Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Hi, I went to a new doc yesterday. I've been diagnosed with fibro since 2005 and have only ever been prescribed vicodin to help. Needless to say it hasn't controlled the pain and other symptoms. So, he prescribed lyrica.
150 mg's to start. I am paranoid of gaining weight. I put on 40 pounds with ad's and steroids a few years ago and have only been able to lose 30 of it. I know it sounds vain but even if it takes away some of the pain but makes me gain it will depress me. I hope somebody can tell me that they have had good experiences with it. thanks, Sandra Dee

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Well, this is not what you wanted to hear, but I did gain weight with Lyrica, but the Lyrica helped so much that I chose to be a bit over weight and almost pain free. I too am very vain and never thought I would feel this way. I am 65 and used to be very, very active. Today I still walk 3 miles a day, that is all I can do anymore. I used to run 7 miles a day. Anyway, if the Lyrica helps, try to control the weight issue with exercise.

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Has anyone heard any new yet about Sevella coming out this month. They said it would be out in MARCH. Did anyone hear if it would also be a weight gaining medication?

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Thanks Sunny for telling me of your experience. How much did you gain and how fast? I already walk/run 2-3 miles per day. I have also logged my food intake and exercise in journals since I was a teenager and I am 41. I am a very health conscious person. Sandra Dee

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Debbie, you should create a new post for your question. Somebody with knowledge of Savella may not look in my post about lyrica. Just a thought. Sandra Dee

I unfortunately have gained more than I have ever gained im my life, but this has been going on for a long time, and before Lyrica I was taking Neurontin. I also take Cymbalta, and I think that too causes weight gain. I used to be a size 4, not too long ago either, well I suppose I will never see that size again. But believe me when I say that the alsmost pain free over comes the need to be slender. Never thought I would say that either!

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

MidnightDiva, so are you saying you were weight neutral with Lyrica? I am glad to hear you did well on cymbalta. Did you have any side effects with it?

Sophie, since you quit the lyrica what have you done? Did it help with your pain at all?

Today is my second day. I am taking 75mg at night for one week and then I am supposed to add 75mg in the morning. Yesterday morning, the morning after my first dose, I was so nauseated and dizzy that I thought I wanted to die!!!! So far today I am feeling good.

Looking forward to hearing more lyrica stories......off to write two research papers. Everyone have a great day!

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

my weight stayed the same with lyrica. I'm overweight anyhow but didn't gain anything while on it. I had to get off of it because it screwed up my eyesight.

In the first month of starting cymbalta I lost 10pounds.

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Did Cymbalta help you with your depression and with Fibro? It made me have the most frightening nightmares the very first night I tried it that I had to stop. My daughter used it for depression and said it worked great, but that it is difficult to get on. You have to taper up, and then when you go off, you have to taper off, and it's very uncomfortable. How do you like it?

Re: Anybody NOT gain weight on Lyrica????

Sophie, Before you quit after taking the Lyrica, because you gained weight, did it help at all with this horrible pain, or the paresthesis in the hands or feet? Any relief of physical symptoms, or depression from our wonderful friend, Fibro? 1 Debbie
