| Re: What do you do for your fibro besides meds?
In my opinion, the only special diet required for FMS is a generally healthy one. Generous quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables, several sources of lean protein, minimal sugar and white starches. It'll improve energy levels, bowel function, and help prevent the development of other health problems that could worsen your fibro.
Supplements: Being low in D or calcium/magnesium can cause muscle problems, just something to keep in mind.
Absolutely, getting some exercise is vital, but do it carefully. If you aren't exercising at all, try starting with a 5 minute walk. I also benefit greatly from a stretching routine I worked out with a yoga teacher. I try to at least move around a bit once per hour.
Massage and trigger point injections also help me a lot. Careful about the massage--a couple days ago I tried someone new, and she twisted my neck 90 degrees to the left! My neck does not go beyond about 75 on a good day. I think she just inflicted a very mild muscle strain, already healing, but it's still annoyingly unnecessary.
