Hi I am only 25 and the last year my fibro has gotten so bad, I have tried to work but I just get so sick, so worn out, I miss so many days. Is it impossible to get some type of disability at my age? What are the different types of disability? Can you bring in no money at all if you get it? like say if you had your own small business and you worked when you felt good, could you not do that? Im really stressed about my future...I really just wish I could be normal and get up and go to work everyday.....any info about disability would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi kariann, In order to get diasbility(SSDI), you will need to start seeing your doctor and tell him that you are intending to file for disability because you feel that your fibro isn't allowing you to participate in your daily activities.(work) Next, find yourself a lawyer that deals with (SSDI). He will be able to assist you. It might take some time and denials for getting approved. Don't give up. Keep in touch. Best wishes, kimmy46

You must be tough and keep going even when you think you can't. I think that they make it hard for you and deny you just so you'll give up. They are trying to prove that there is something that you can do. It depends a great deal on the judge you get and I had a very tough one. Keep seeing doctors and document every time you go. SS also sends you to their doctors and psychiatrists also. It is also true that they hire people to kind of spy on you to see just how disabled you are. I know several people that this happenned to including me. Our neighborhood keeps an eye out for people that sit in cars and trucks, etc. and don't belong here. Keep a pain journal. Get a lawyer or advocate from an agency that does nothing but try to get you disability benefits. The bad thing is that what $ you get for disability depends on how much you have worked. You get medicare part A (hospital) which is free, but the next year you get part B which is about $80 that comes out of the disability check. This does not include prescription coverage. I hope you can tough it out. I am not trying to burst your bubble, but it's better to be aware of this stuff before you start. I wish you the best of luck.
