Hi
I am only recently new to this board but not to fibromyalgia. I have been diagnosed for over 10 years and have a long story about it which I will not go into but only say I have been on and off many many medications. I also work in the health field so end up with way more information than is probably good for my piece of mind.
That being said, Provigil has literally saved my life! I would not be working nor independent if I had not pushed my rheumatologist to give it to me in 2003. In 2004 I was on many other medications as well as Provigil and my blood pressure went very high and uncontrollable with BP meds. Eventually my primary doc and I decided to take me off everything, I went on short term disability (mandatory in NJ), and then restarted things one by one. All my docs assumed it was the Provigil.... it was not. It happened that I had started reacting to Ibuprofen - even 200 mg of Ibu will cause my blood pressure to go up. I have also had liver issues and we did a similar thing. That was related to the tramadol and only at a certain dose. So I also use the tramadol still. The Provigil has never been the cause of any of my side effect issues. Not to say it can't. But because it is the only drug which has helped me to live through the fatigue - for me - a side effect would have to be very life threatening for me to give it up.
Hope that helps.
