| Re: Experience of D-ribose
I will admit not having tried it but may discuss it with my doctor at my first rheumatology visit in Sept. I work for a large research hospital and have alot of medical research at my finger tips. I was able to find two studies regardingin d-ribose or just ribose and fibromyalgia. One was from 2004 and was a case study so it isnt that useful for making generalization. The second was a pilot study and they had no control subjects. 36 subjects completed the study and all were given the d-ribose to use....here were the results:
Response - N - (%)
Much better - 5 - (14.3%)
Somewhat better - 17 - (48.6%)
Somewhat better/no change - 1 - (2.9%)
No change - 9 - (25.7%)
No change/somewhat worse - 1 - (2.9%)
Somewhat worse - 2 - (5.7%)
Much worse - 0 - (0%)
so take it for what it is worth. Without a control batch it is hard to distinguish the placebo factor....taking something new and I want it to work so it does....my theory is that they will do a larger scale study including control after they had done the pilot. It did mention that the subjects were to continue with their regular regimen of medications.
I have the article but doubtful I could post it and I wouldnt know how else to get it to anyone who would like to read it. I think there is a private message function here but havent figured out how to use it or what options are available. If anyone would like to read it and knows how I can get it to you just let me know!!
