Ok. I have a ton of posts on many of these boards and most of them have no answers, but i'll try again here. I have been dealing with odd pain for over a year now. Have had a ton of tests the whole cardio thing, lung, belly, brain.. and well I feel like crud most days. You see, I have pain on and off in my sternum area and it seems to conicide with this burning pain I get in my upper back. Sometimes with it my breasts are painful and ribs. BTW.. just had my mammo and that was normal. Now, for the past few days I've had a headache where my whole head hurt and so did the back of my neck. When this took place the pain in my sterum and upperback was gone.. seems like it traveled upwards. I'm clueless and looking for answers! Thanks. Oh and to add, I'm a healthy weight, eat well, excercise have great BP and glucose and my cholestrol (sp) is normal.
Hi Dontgetit - you say you've had a ton of tests done - have you been tested for fibro (it's often through elimination of other things!) A rheumotologist can test you for it - your symptons do seem as if it could well be fibro.....
Symptoms are wide spread from one person to another. It is usually wide spread pain through out the muscles, joints, fatigue you can't immagine and much more.
Usually For Me: When I have a flair up, my whole body aches...Like I have the flu, without the fever, and I'm so tired I just lay around all day. After a couple of days just laying around, I even feel worse from laying around. Without a flair up, the pain is always there, all over. Body aches, sharp pains, stiffness, among many other symptoms. With my meds, I manage it.
I've lived with this for 11-12 years now. 7 years ago, I didn't think I could go on feeling this way for the rest of my life. That's when the depression sets in and the FM just gets worse. Then I finally found a good doctor that has helped me partly get my life back. I still don't work, I can't. I want to, but days like I've had the past couple of days jerk me back into fibromyalgia reality. I do what I can to get thru the day.
Only your doctor can properly diagnose. You might want to visit some sites on the symptoms. And, keep in mind, many symptoms are not listed that people with FM suffer from.
The worse is...people say they understand, but they don't. The only ones that really understand is others with FM.

I have not been tested. My primary care doc is beign an A** and sending me to PT which is NOT helping. I can't even begin to tell you how mis guided I've been by doctors.. it amazes me. I think they are all just looking to make a buck out of people. Anyway, I will get tested and some how get a ref to see a rheumotologist. Thank you. BTW, I looked up the 18 tender points that fibro people suffer from and I had like 10.

I did visit a site and as far as I could see it's like a 50/50 chance that's what this could be. But, I can't say as though I ache all over and I'm not tired out. But what ever this is, it seems to be a muscle issue. The only time I get heavy lags and feel real tired is right before my menses. I don't know??
Hi dontgetit...Have you ever been tested for tender points? After the tests to rule out everything else my rheumatologist checked the tender points and I had more than 11. So that test, lack of any indications on my bloodwork, and my symptoms = a fibromyalgia diagnosis.
The moving pain does sound familar to me...if my legs hurt, nothing else is that bad unless I'm in a major flare. When my head aches/also with the same neck pain you describe, my legs are much better. Many fibros have sternum and rib pain similar to what you are having. I know it is frustrating to feel so bad and have it move all around your body AND not know what the cause is....hang in there...maybe you need to see rheumatologist and hopefully he/she can give you some answers.

Thank you Suzzana. I have not been tested but you know I'm going to ask to be. This way I will know for sure. The whole thing has left me very frustrated.. and worried.

I'd never even heard of FM before I was diagnosed - when they came to test my tender points I said why are you going to do that I don't hurt there and then shot through the roof - these guys are experts at it!!!!!! The place where he pressed was by my elbow - I never get pain there but that's just how these tender points work - so if you've prodded and poked and know you have 10 when the rheumotologist tests you it could be more or less as they are very specific with very specific pressure - good luck at getting tested. I was relieved that there was a name to my pain then upset when I read about it then got a grip and am working daily to get the better of this beast!! Once you know what you are dealing with you can then create your plan of action
Hello......in the forum you wrote..I am having the same symptoms.......I am a 51 year old man and tired of hurting and seeing quacks who do not know what they are doing. Did you ever get a true diagnosis of your ailments........Please respond.....

tired of quacks......
The first doctor who was my family doc told me that I didn't have fibro..."fibro was for lazy people and you're not lazy!!" This was in 1999 when many doctors were not informed. I decided to call the local office of the Arthritis Foundation and ask which doctors in my area treated fibromyalgia and they sent me a list. I went to that rheumatologist and still see him. I think most of us suffered from a long time before getting a diagnosis...good luck to you
Suzzana, thank you for encouraging all of us with your comment...get a grip and work daily to get the better of this beast. I awakened with similar thoughts and am back to using my timer...15 minutes on and 15 off.
