New Symptom?? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hello all,

Just wondering if this is a new Fibro symptom. I have been noticing as well as my husbands made a comment regarding my fingers being so cold lately. Even my nails feel like ice at times.

I have been noticing this on and off for sometime and it has become more frequent. My husband went to hold my hand in the car as he was driving and he said my god why are your hands so cold.

It was bothering me today and I also noticed almost like a burning sensation with it.

I have been in a flare for the past week and a half lately so I don't know if it was connected, even though I have had this without being in a flare. It turns out I got food poising a week and a half ago and I then went into a bad flare after that...UGH

i have had this also. sometimes my rings would almost slide off. i hope it is fibro related. there are so many things that are contributed to fibro. when my hands are like that so are my feet. they get so cold it burns. to me burning is pain. i have some cotton gloves that i got from a store and i put them on my hands to warm up. then there are times they seem so hot you can feel the heat coming off of them. thats when they swell. until about 6 months ago, i never had any problems with my feet or hands. now i can hardly stand up on them. i always have to wait a minute or two before i try to walk because of the pain. my hands are just as painful now too,. i cant hardly make a fist. i cant hold things easily in my hands either, especially something small or heavy. i cant pick up a gallon of milk. By the way, i wanted to thank you and the other veterans on the board for all of your advice and knowledge of fibro. I am better prepared for my future. Here's hoping you warm up soon. i hope you have better days.

I remember before I was even diagnosed that my hands were a great problem. Weak, cold and painful. Thought I was getting arthritis. I now know I have Renoulds Syndrome (SP). The tips of my fingers turn white in the cold (45 degrees) and they get numb. I now that a lot of Fibromights have this syndrome as well. I wonder if the pain and weakness was just the beginnings of this syndrome. Don't know for sure. Maybe some of the Vets out there can enlighten us....

I developed Reynaulds Syndrome (SP???) last winter - and you're right many with fibro have this - I now have a whole host of gloves - thin ones when it's cold, leather ones to drive in, thick ones when it's freezing. I'm also going to dig out my silk liners (you can get them from ski shops) it's having layers that keeps you warm so I figured that's what I did when I skied - silk liners then thicker gloves. Also hand warmers you can pop in your gloves and pockets are fab - trick is not to get them cold - so have them in your handbag so when in the supermarket near the chillers you can whip 'em on along with your scarf and balaclava

Great ideas Sweetlife....I used to use them to go ice fishing! I can't even dream of ever going ice fishing again...dang I hate this FIbro! Oh well, watcha gonna do right?
