I have had pain in my hands and elbows for the past 8 months and recently the pain has moved everywhere in my body. It hurts to walk, stand, lie down. I have burning sensations in my feet and hands.
The dr is now doing blood tests to rule out everything else which I am not sure what that is. He thinks it might be fibermyalgia but not certain.
He has me on muscle relaxants to calm the muscles in order to sleep but it sure doesnt help during the day because I wont take them during the day in order to function. So for during the day I just take advil to dull the pain a bit.
Hi Addy2010 and welcome to the boards. Not sorry you had to join such a group of very helpful and confiedent people. You will find a lot of strength and understanding on these boards. I believe your doctor is going in the right direction with the tests to rule out all other explainations for your pain. Try to patient and feel free to come to these bosrds to vent. Let us know if you do get diagnosed also.
Stay low pain,

I have an appt. for Monday evening for the blood test results so I go from there.
My dr also told me 8 months ago that it could be a virus or he thought it could be arthritis. He then made an appt. for me to see a arthritis specialist. I was then told by the specialist that I dont have arthris and it is prbly fibermyalgia.
I then went back to my family dr who then again said it could be a virus. A virus that lasts for 8 months??
Don't know what kind if any insurance you have, but have you tried a Rheumatologist. They are ones you want to see for Fibro. If your doc can't come up with anything after your blood work ask him to send you to a Rheumy and bring all tests with you. As far as what to do in the meantime; warm baths, lots of rest (I know easier said than done), take your meds. If your not sure how you will do during the day with them try them on the weekends or cut them in half if you work during the week and see if you can still function. Low stress and I know that is really hard not knowing what is going on with your body. Don't over do when you do feel well enough to do anything. I have learned the hard way that over-doing can really put you back to step one. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you for the information
I actually just went to a Rheumatiod Arthritis Specialist. He is the one that thinks I have fibermyalgia and gave me muscle relaxants and basically told me to go see my family dr.
I am from Canada so we have full coverage.
I will keep you posted after I get the results on Monday.
Hi everyone. Haven't been on for a while. My daughter had surgery so I was busy with her.
As far as my horrible body pain. I have gone for tests after tests and so far everything has come back normal. Just waiting to see a Neuro Specialist.
I did finally get pills for fibermyalgia last night from my Dr. so hopefully it works. The pills are called Teva-Gabapentin
Not sure if anyone has heard of them or how they work or any side effects?
Girl, I've been fighting this for 8-9 years. They tell me water tread mills are good. If you are like me I'm overweight so thats why the water is good. My sister has been working with this for about a year. She goes to the water treadmill and she has had good luck, but she also takes painkillers.
iempathize with you. I hurt from my cranium to my toes. I feel like I have the flu, but, I don't. I can't tolerate cold temperatures. I sit at the house dressed in sweats, covered by a blanket and on a heating pad. My husband is in shorts. What a pair we are. I can take 100 degree weather, but 70 or below, no way................... I explained in an earlier blog the meds I have been on and how they worked. Hope you have a positive, happy months ahead.
I agree. The cold weather does not help. I try to stay warm as much as possible.
Yes it does feel like I have the flu. I am not over weight and the cold weather has always bothered me, even when I was feeling good. I am sure I have had a bit of this for a long time. I had quit smoking 3 months ago and it seems since then all kinds of things are happening to me. Ha ha my body doesnt know what hit it.
Where do you live? I live in Alberta Canada and the winter weather here can be very unbearable.
Does the medication you take help at all?
