twitches, spasms, and tingling, burning

I have fibromyalgia, for years, I have the twitches, spasms, and tingling, burning, and the pin and needles that feel like a million hot little needles sticking in my neck and shoulders, I also was just diagnosed with ALS! Seeing a neurologist will answer a lot of questions, don't wait as long as I had to.

Re: Pins & Needles or skin stinging pain or radiating heat?

Hi Serenitygirl,

I just saw a new neurologist this past week. Next week he's repeating EMG's and also taking a biopsy for small fiber neuropothy and something else. I had taken another test from my other neurologist for sweating and neuropothy and it came out abnormal.

I was also just diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis which is an auto-immune disease of the thyroid. Also hypothyroidism. The endo doc started me on Synthroid. This new neurologist said that he highly suspects something else going on with me because these type of auto-immune diseases are usually overlapping with others.
Also, I was just diagnosed with Lymes Disease for the 3rd time in my life. I was on a PICC line for 28 days getting IV antibiotic therapy. Not sure if it killed the parasites.

I'm also most likely going to get a Lumbar Puncture. Not looking forward to that!

It's been almost 3 years that I've been sick and their still looking for answers.

Still having the pins & needles, stinging etc...even while I'm on Neurontin.

I really hope you feel better!!!

Re: Pins & Needles or skin stinging pain or radiating heat?

I used to have the stinging pain all the time. I started taking Alpha Lipoic Acid. Google it! It's worth the time to check it out. I still have Fibromyalgia pain but most of the stinging and burning is gone.

Re: Pins & Needles or skin stinging pain or radiating heat?

Neurontin 600 mg when my skin starts to "burn" is the only thing that makes my pain go away. Fortunately, the longer that i have had fibro the less my skin burns. The burning is usually on my elbow or arm and precipitates a flare.
