Fibro Fog & hearing loss (muffled)?

I have a question I've been wondering for awhile...
I've had the Fibro for since Jan 1999. It doesn't lift & hardly remember what it's like to feel "awake". Anyhow, for as long as I can remember it's like I have a hearing loss. Hearing loss actually runs in my family. Years ago I was tested & passed.
But, the hearing loss for me is different... I can hear noises & everything. But, people sound muffled allot. I miss allot of what is said on TV, I use closed caption. Anyhow, I can hear people talk, just don't understand what they are saying sometimes. I think it's worst with background noise. I can't hear the TV while there is other noise around me. If someone is talking & there is another sound, I miss allot of what they are saying...
Anyhow else have this problem? My husband gets frustrated with me. I'll prob get my ears checked once I get medical bills caught up again. I just can't see wasting $ if there is nothing that can be done.

Thanks,
Tori

Re: Fibro Fog & hearing loss (muffled)?

hi tori,
i have pitch perfect hearing. had it tested when my brother said you're going deaf and i said you mumble. that being said, giggle, i have difficulty seperating sounds so if there is music or telly and i am trying to listen to someone, forget it. it all gets jumbled up and i just hear noise. gone are the days of driving with the stereo blasting, i can't concentrate if it is. i don't think it's hearing loss, i think it's my brain losing it, can't see the forest for the trees, only with my ears. giggle, hope this makes sense.
now i turn everything down or off if i want to hear something specific.
tell hubby what he does not want to hear. it's another aspect of fibro. hypersensitivity to sounds.
peace,
blue
