Re: Giving a talk to physical therapists

Some points I will be making-- would love feedback beyond my own
-start exercise very slowly like 3 min, then 5 min
--modify your environment to eliminate triggers -- for me standing with a blowdryer, good chair at work, memory foam bed
--many docs not up on the latest - living with pain is exhausting and then they come to PT and finally someone listens, that's why they see so many tears
-consider pool therapy to get people moving
--top three but not the only meds officially approved: lyrica, cymbalta, savella

What would you like me to add!!??????????

Re: Giving a talk to physical therapists

Hi,

I would suggest finding a good massage therapist in addition to doing the physical therapy.

I started massage/acupuncture last year and I am really getting some good results. I go every other week. It is kind of expensive....but my insurance is picking up a portion of it so it is manageable for me.

I would also suggest trying Arnica Gel. I put it on my shoulders and it really does help with the intense pain.

Good luck on your talk!

Re: Giving a talk to physical therapists

hi,
i find breath helps. we forget to breath deeply when we hurt. slow deep breaths restore the balance within. i also meditate. i agree massage therapy is very helpful. as for meds i really never found any that helped so i don't take meds for fibro. my mind is my drug of choice. our minds are stronger than our bodies. often i spend days alone in deep meditation.
peace,
bluelakelady
