In the last year I have been diagnosed with two coincidental findings. Thyroid cyst and Spinal Spondylosis, both not managed effectively (deemed not necessary by consultant as yet).
Symptoms – Sciatic pain left arm and left leg resulting in muscle wasting. Feeling tired, sleep is poor. I keep producing mucous in throat (no cough) sometimes there have been streaks of blood only at night). A CT scan of throat and two chest x-rays only revealed a thyroid cyst. The ENT doctor put a scope in my throat and said I had rhinitis. Loose stools for one year (had colonoscopy and gastroscopy and biopsies but nothing revealing apart from slight reflux in throat). Ultrasound of complete abdomen was okay. MRI of spine shows sponodylosis disc disease. Blood tests came back normal on two occasions. Blood sugar levels are okay. My weight fluctuates, lost 6 pounds in a Month then put on 10 pounds later, totally unexplained. My skin smells odd, like sweet-smelling
I get headaches especially in back of head and unsteady on feet like dizziness. MY brain feels like fog and I get irritable. My doctor thinks this is the ears due to mucus build up
The only place they have not checked is the brain.
Please can anyone help? I just want to get on in life I have so much to do yet I get dragged down by this. I wondered if I had cancer which they cannot find
Hi Tony
Sorry about what you are going through...If its of any comfort whatsoever (and hope it is) ...we all either openly or secretly 'wonder' if we, at different times, have cancer...and its not uncommon for people to think the doctors missed something!
IF I were you... and I know it may not be easy... I would consider going to a different doctor who has NO info on you... and find out what a different doctor has to say.
At this point, it does not sound to me like you have Fibromyalgia (but that is just my opinion, ok?)
I have had sciatica at different times, and it usually 'goes away' after a time and is not a chronic condition. Again...this is MY experience.
Also...have you considered doctors of alternative medicine??
Good luck. Keep us posted!

thank you bettsann for replying and your advice. Your words give me hope that I may be able to get some help. I am hoping to find a new doctor though I belong to one practice and the doctors use the same case notes.
I need a doctor who can look at me with 'fresh' eyes to see if anything new can be uncovered, look at me as if it was a medical challenge rather than a statisitical probability which is the label I feel I have been attached too.
I need to go now, feeling dizzy, headache and tired through lack of sleep.
Hi Tony,
I thought of one more thing that you might consider. Have you thought about going to a chiropractor? I have an exceptionally good one...he is a member of what is called 'precision chiropractor' practice... He has helped ALL of us in our family so much... And I would really urge you to give it a try... it is amazing what misalignment of the spine can cause...plus, they work with energy fields.
Have a good day (evening...night!
