savella vs cymbalta

is there much of a difference between savella and cymbalta? i have had swelling of hands and feet from other fibro meds and im worried about side effects. im at cymbalta 120mg and still have muscle/severe lower back pain/muscle spasms.

Re: savella vs cymbalta

Hello,
I have been on Cymbolta, Nuerontin & Lyrica. I've been on Savella a few months. The reason I switched is because my Pharmisist said Savella passes through the liver so doesn't cause swelling. Cymbolta & many other meds seem to "get stuck" in the liver which causes more side effects.
I like Savella the best. My only complaint is at first it gave me hot flashes. These days I sweat really easily... But Cymbolta & the others have more side effects (swelling for example). Cymbolta also made me even more exhausted. I have major probs with fatigue so I felt really lethargic most the time. I'm not as exhausted on Savella.
Cymbolta is a nightmare to go off of! I have complained about it many times on here... I don't think they should make that horrible med... Please search this board with the keyword "cymbolta". You'll be able to read our complaints about it...
I seem to have water retention no matter what. Can't lose weight no matter how hard I try & still can't figure out why it piled on... But I think I have hormone issues which is what I'm trying to have a dr figure out...
These days I take tramadol every day. I just hurt too much to get anything done. I have to wait for it to kick in before I can even pick up a pencil. But fibro pain has only gotten worst & worst as time passes. I'm seeing a new fibro specialist Monday & really hope she can help...
