I've dx with fibromyalgia and so far it has been ok, but lately the last month or so I've been in SOOO much pain. Now I have shooting pains down the side of my neck. Is that part of fibro or something else?
always best to have yourself checked over by the doc. sounds like a flare up is hitting you. slow breathing, rotation of your head, heat or ice or both. i find topical creams help with local pain. there are a ton to choose from. best ones for me are biofreeze, painatrate and tpr20. you can find them online. never saw them in any stores.
do you have a tennis ball? rolling it up and down your painful areas can help too. especially the neck. it's one of my tender areas. i also go to a chiro for a good head swinging. giggle.
Thank you so much for your reply. I just ordered some Biofreeze from online. They did have it at my dad's PT place, but it was much easier and not to mention cheaper to get online. The tennis ball idea is great, I've never heard of doing that before. Hopefully I can steal one from my dog..lol
I do have an appointment on the 19th with the rheumy so hopefully things will have subsided by then. I just don't understand really why it's gotten so bad all of a sudden.
Hi, have you tried heat for your neck pain. Ice does not work for me but I bought a electric heat pad and it gives me great relief. I get the same type of neck pain you described. Hope you feel better soon.
glad you ordered something. after you put it on throw yourself on a heating pad also. i get so cold after applying it i have my heating pad on and jump right on it to warm up. giggle, hey, whatever works, right?
i am a heat junkie. heated car seats, heated office chair, heating pads and a hot tub. giggle. i can't do cold paks either. they hurt.
Fibro can get worst... In the beginning pain was mild for me with the exception of flares. It has just continued to get worst. Always hurt now. For a long time I just bared with it. These days I take tramadol every 4 hours & a muscle relaxer for pain during the day & another to fall asleep at night. This has worked best for me. Actually feel like I'm atleast living & getting stuff done I wouldnt of been able to do otherwise. Fortunetly I don't get as sick this time of year. During the colder months I get very sick when I flare. Right now I just send myself into more pain & fatigue.
I'm with blue on heat. I soak in a hot bath everyday & helps the muscles so much!
You'll find what works best for you. But no matter what, try not to over do it, stress, ect because just makes you hurt more...
