finding a good doctor

I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but my pcp is treating me with cymbalta, neurontin and buspar. how do I go about finding a doctor who specializes in this and should I get an "official" diagnosis? I live in Georgia. any advice would be great! thanks

Re: finding a good doctor

Usually a rheumatologist is the best type of doctor to diagnose fibro and be sure other explanations have been ruled out. Might take several weeks to get an appointment with a good one, but you can set it up now.

The rheumatologist will go over your blood work and other tests, maybe order some that had been left out.

I agree that a good rheumy is your best friend. I found one I really like and it is wonderful to have someone who believes you and will help you. Ask around to people you know and see if they can suggest anyone. Feel better.
