Hey, so my health has been taking a nose dive this last year. While I have always had issues with my joints popping all the time, a slight pressure in the back of my head, and have always between prone to headaches, things are just getting almost unbearable. My anxiety if extremely high, my back hurts all the time, I have pressure behind my right eye, pain in my right shoulder, tingling in my legs, arms, and side, ringing on my right ear, chest pain, right muscles, abdominal pain, acid reflux, occasional nausea, skin itching and tingling. When I have pain in my abdomen, chest, the areas are very sensitive to touch. All of this is mostly affecting my right side.
I have been in a car accident in which my right shoulder, neck, and back were injured last September and then I was mugged and beaten about a month ago.
I'm really poor and have been to the hospital 3 times in the past year asking for help. None of the doctors take me seriously though. They think it's all in my head or something. They won't even give me any real tests. Could fibromyalgia explain this? What tests should I ask for to rule out anything else? Finally, anyone in the Atlanta area know how to get help with very little income???
Someone please help. I'm 20, feel like I'm 65, and I'm really scared...
Yes, it could be fibro, possibly related to your recent injuries.
Unfortunately, fibro isn't going to get diagnosed in an emergency room. You need to start with a family doctor, and get bloodwork: The basic stuff like CBC, plus Vitamin D level, arthritis panel, to check for autoimmune disease, and a lyme disease test. Then the family doctor may refer you to a rheumatologist to confirm or deny the diagnosis.
Yes, all of this is going to cost some money, although altogether it'd probably be less than one hospital visit. Look into health insurance options for low-income individuals in your state. There may be a free or low-cost clinic that can at least arrange the bloodwork for you.
