Hello everyone! i was recently diagnosed (by two different doctors) with fibromyalgia. So im new to all of this. I have had horrible pain in my feet for the past few years. Feel like they are swollen but they aren't, doctors could never figure out why. then I started getting extremely tired, i would have problems staying awake at work, etc. Even after 8 hours of sleep I felt like I had never slept! I always have random pains that come and go and make no sense to doctors....Anyways, my question is about other problems i have had and im wondering if they are related to fibromyalgia. First, my skin is SO dry, no amount of lotion helps, it itches SO bad that I will scratch it till it bruises. Also, smells bother me, my nose is very sensitive to everything! Lights in the store bother me and make me feel dizzy. The sunlight bothers me as well. Also when im walking through the food section of the store the cold bothers me, it makes my shoulders and chest ache, so does drinking something really cold. Im just wondering if anyone else experiences any of this or if these symptoms are something else all together! thanks so much!
Hi! I am new to Fibro world too. New to the diagnosis but have felt it for years. I have some of the same problems. Dry skin/itchiness, I get really itchy in sore spots and makes it painful to scratch. I am very sensitive to scent and get naseaus very easy. Lights bother me too, I get a headache and I swear I feel flu like after I shop in a brightly lit store. I am also very sensitive to the sun. If I am out in the sun for 2 minutes I end up with a rash and don't feel well. I kind of have a constant red rash on my chest, people are always saying I have a sunburn but I avoid the sun like the plague!
omg...i have a red rash that never goes away on my chest...it appeared years ago...but it kinda looks like tiny broken blood vessels and a rash that spreads across my chest right below my neck. No one has ever been able to tell me why! and im glad im not the only one that is sensitive to everything! People look at me like im crazy when i try to explain how i feel. the mall is torture for me because some of the stores are so bright and so many different colors going on.

No one can tell my why I always have a rash on my chest too! The Rheumatologist keeps telling me to go to a dermatologist. I havent scheduled that yet because I have so many other specialists to see. One doctor kept telling me it looked like a sunburn before the nurse practioner had to point out to her that it was November and had been raining for a week..ha ha. I also get the rash on my arms but not as constant as the chest. Sometimes it goes up my neck and occasionally I get it on my forehead.
I agree, it is difficult to explain to other people. I get the are you from another planet look all the time
i actually had one doctor (internal medicine) tell me, "your symptoms dont even make sense"!!! I said, im aware of that, but that doesnt mean i dont have them! So annoying! One doctor told me my rash is from how I sleep at night and another one said its because my skin is getting thinner...really? Im 36 not 95!
Oh ha ha! I know exactly how you feel. They will come up with any reason for the symptoms before saying they really just don't know. I would much rather they tell me "I have no clue". My doctor told me it might be the medication I am on but I told her that I have had the rashes long before starting the meds. She's still telling me it is probably from the medication! I don't even bring it up anymore. It really is a mysterious thing to have, so many problems with no answers.
Hi Ladies,
I just wanted to Welcome you both to the board! You'll find that sometimes coming here is just as good, if not better, than talking to a Dr. Personal 1st hand knowledge CL be better than any medical book...
I don't get rashes, just itchy. My back always itches so bad but if i have my husband scratch the pressure hurts so much! I dry & oily skin. Not sensitive to smells, something has to stink bad for me notice... Sensitive to bright light & noises... Hard to not get irritated over noise with 4 kids, ugh.
I've went through periods of time when I was allergic to something then all of a sudden not... You could be getting rashes or dry skin from body wash, lotion, & especially laundry soap... Even if they didn't bother you before, they could now... Try switching to a perfume free dye free laundry soap, liquid not powder. I also have a recipe for home made laundry soap that works just as good & no skin irritants! Ive used it for years. It takes 3 ingredients & takes about 10-15 mins to make. Costs $2 to make 10 gallons of it, about 25 cents a gallon. Love it! Let me know if you want the recipe!
I would love the recipe I have thought about making my own, but have never actually done it. I tried switching body wash and detergent, nothing seems to help the itching. I just want to take a bottle brush to my legs..lol. My scalp also started itching and I tried switching shampoo and conditioner, not blow drying hair so it wouldnt dry it out, with no luck. Im relieved to know that im not crazy and that other people have my symptoms. Its been a long couple of years, and an expensive one with all the drs visits! But at least I can say I have had almost every test in the world done and im perfectly health other than my fibro!
omg..I've had the same thing with the rash on my chest, and sometimes I get one on my face. It looks live I've been out in the sun, and I haven't. At least I know I'm not crazy.
