So for some reason I keep forgetting that I have neuropathy as well. It has kicked into high gear the last couple days. Some of thr symptoms for that is similar to fibromyalgia and so Im wondering if my issues is more from neuropathy than fibro. Anyone else??
Well fibro is muscle related and neuropathy is nerve related. The pain associated with neuropathy is the disease itself and not a symptom. For me my muscles tighten up and spasm with fibro. With neuropathy it affects my whole body and makes both legs from knees down numb and walking difficult and makes my face numb and arms as well and the pain is constant. Can't distinguish between hot and cold and my limbs are always cold. Past few days my spine has been on fire (feeling) and electric shocks keep going throughout my body. Nerve pain is very different than any other pain and nothing can make the pain lessen.
With fibro touch hurts too. Don't think I described it clear enough but I just know a huge difference between the two and pretty sure neuropathy causes me alot more issues than fibro or if I even have fibro. I had to go to the er in 2009 cuz it felt like my spine was on fire and I could not walk or breathe or anything the nerve pain was excruciating and I was told I had fibro but the doc wouldnt listen to me to what my pain really was
My meds I take is cymbalta and tramodol. I hate taking meds as it is and have chemical sensitivity and have tried tons of meds over the years. These are the only 2 that havent given me side effects
ok so the cymbalta should help w/ the neuropathy. But I have heard of folks taking a 2nd nerve pain medication. btw, one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss, lots of folks are interested in that one. But you have to be careful after a while the weight can come back up. I know the cymbalta can put weight on you too.
Plus the cymbalta is good for the fibro as is the topamax. I tried coming off of it one time for 3 months and felt awful. I don't take anything else except for pain meds for it. Hope you feel better soon, Cathy

Numbness from knees to my toes. Feet and legs always cold. Can't feel anything on my legs, or well atleast pain. If I cut myself shaving I have no idea unless I happen to see blood. Same with my hands. Since Saturday cant walk unless I hang onto something or use my cane (have it for instances like this). Burning feeling in my spine that goes down my legs and arms and up to my head. Electrical shock feeling as well.
