Everytime I go for blood work when they put the needle in my arm the veins jump and they have to take blood out of my hand does this happen to anyone else with fibromyalgia
Re: jumping veins
It sure does, not only do they move about to avoid the needle but they are tiny. To keep blood work as simple as possible I tell the person drawing up front my veins are tiny and they travel.
Out comes the tiny butterfly and if they know what they're doing they put a thumb on my vein to stabilize it before the needle goes in. I also warn them I do not allow fishing around for my veins. It's my arm and if it can't be done with one poke get someone who can or my blood is staying right where it is.
There is one lady at the docs that is a real pro and always gets it right, I love it when she is there. She knows my veins and takes my blood order.
