Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

Hey everyone,
Many of you know my issues but haven't been on lately...
I've been going to my primary allot lately because something else is going on. At first she really seemed to want to help me. No this last time I could tell she's sick of me.
I've had headaches for as long as I can remember, probably in my late teens. It's been so normal to have atleast a mild headache I don't think about it. It's when they get so painful all I can do is lay down & not do anything, that's when it really effects me. Pain meds don't touch it.
Anyhow, I've had vomiting issues for a couple yrs. usually with headaches but sometimes with it so mild I barely notice.
I had a GI & abdominal ultrasounds done & more labs but everything was fine.
Everything is always worst this time of year & vomiting happens more. But it's been so ba that for a month I was vomiting almost daily. Doing alittle Bette right now but still get the every day headaches, nausea, ect. Thought if wake up puking last night & the night before but done good so far.
Anyhow, I blaimed it on my body's way of dealing with pain for awhile there but it's not normal & shouldn't be this bad. I get to throwing up & it can last 15 hrs, can't keep anything down. I usually deal with it but hubby made me go to urgent care last time it was really bad.
I'm in so much pain right now. My neck is always the worst. I'm having such a hard time dealing with it. My Rhum will only prescribe tramadol which I take 100mg twice daily. All it ever does is take the edge off. The last 3 days its doing nothing.
Also, it doesn't take much for me to over do it. I can hardly do anything without making it all worst. I'm doing nothing but laying on the couch wishing for relief. I may make a simple dinner or hang up some laundry but that's about it!
I seen my dr last week. She wants me to keep a headache journal because she thinks its migraines. It is likely but I get the impression she's just trying to give me a diagnosis to leave her alone. I think there is something causing the migraines. I wanted to get a nasal cyst checked out that was on my MRI 2 yrs ago. Make sure it's not a tumor or gotten bigger but she says its fine & refuses to look into it further. I asked I be refered to another Nuerologist & she refused. I've read about Chiari Malformation a long time ago. But since the Nuerologist I seen 2 yrs ago checking for ms said no lesions & I figured it was normal. But I posted on another board recently about migrains and someone with Chiari pointed out that it sounds like I have Chiari symptoms.
So I would like to get it ruled out, but how? I was thinking maybe i could pay a Nuerologist to look over the MRI to rule it out but can't seem to find one that specializes in it... I'd like to get a referal but dr isn't taking me serious.
I honestly feel like I'm just slowly dying. When I get so sick I'm afraid that I won't wake up in the morning. It's all just sooo bad. If its not pain, headaches or vomiting the fatigue is awful.
How do I get a dr to take me serious? I don't deny fibro but something else is wrong. I know I have a hard time showing pain. Te dr sees me looking normal. But I don't feel that way. I'm so sick of it!

I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. Any chance of changing doctors until you find one who will believe and help you? Sounds like that may be a place to start.

I wish I had some other words of wisdom, but really just hope you find some sort of relief soon.

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

Thank You
I thought she was but just got tired of me I guess. But tired of going to drs & getting no where... I really want to be checked for Chiari Malformation. Found a Nuerosurgen that specializes in it that's 3 hrs away... I'm sure I can find a Nuero closer but going to a specialist like him I'll be able to except it & continue looking for answers.
I called my drs office Friday & left a message asking for the referal with all his info. They never called me back so will hopefully get answers soon... Hopefully she'll agree because I'm pretty determined to see him lol

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

Tori, sorry to hear you are having more problems. I know how frustrating it is to have the docs just brush you off with a lame excuse when they aren't smart enough or don't want to figure out what is wrong. I suffered from severe migraines for years. Luckily old age took care of most of that. Then several years ago I went through a phase of headaches that had me nauseated and throwing up all the time. I would throw up all night long sometimes. I was fortunate they finally went away and would come and go occasionally. I finally figured out that they were more weather and allergy related and sought treatment before things got so bad. Almost had a new recurrence of them this year. Hang in there and don't take No for an answer. If you have the right kind of insurance go on your own to see the neurologist.

Thank You
I'll keep pushing them... Just wish drs would take me more serious. Feels like I'll be on my death bed before they ever do that... Was pretty tough for a month there, been doing better thank goodness but still crappy. Even if this nuerosurgen says its migraines & nothing else causing them, atleast I could believe him...
How are you? Miss seeing you here!

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

I am doing....well.....fine, I guess that would be the right phrase. So busy most of the time, I don't know which end is up. My brother was having some serious health issues, but along with it all was some sort of dementia happening. His roommate died a year ago so he is living alone again and he doesn't live real close. We are the only ones in our family left. My daughter and I finally got fed up and I made an appt with his doc and we took him and just tattled on him all over the place. The doc said, "oh my, I wasn't aware of any of this." Of course not, my brother forgot most of his appts. and when he did show up, the doc would say how are you and he would say I'm fine and that would be that. The doc went into action and we found out what was causing most of the problem. He was given some meds and his dementia, confusion, sleepiness and tremor have disappeared. Of course he doesn't remember much of those really bad months. But I do and they were not fun, still have him to worry about and take care of.
The good news however is our daughter had her first baby Nov. 20th. with an emergency Csection. They tried inducing and it didn't work. She had the tiniest little girl, she is so precious. They thought it wasn't going to happen and now she has a little girl, what she always wanted. And she is the first granddaughter....we have 3 grandsons from our son and daughter in law. They are 10, 4, and 8mo. and yes, they keep me busy also.
So now you have the whole busy story. I just seem to run and run and run all the time. I have just a portion of my Christmas decorations up and only half of the shopping done. We all decided to buy for only the kids this year, there is way too much going on. Tomorrow I have two docs appt.s one for me and one for my hubby. One for him on Tue. and two docs appt.s Wed. one for me and one for him for shots in both his knees. They are scattered all different places in the county so I'll be driving a lot. Thurs evening is a condo open meeting and I am on the condo board. Gave up the presidency last Feb. thank goodness. And Fri. is possible babysitting with the 8mo. old depending on how their morning lines up. Do you see why I haven't been here. Oh and I forgot I had acute sinusitis and acute bronchitis all of Oct. and part of Nov. and took three different rounds of antibiotics and massive quantities of prednisone. Are you sorry you asked....giggle. Yes, the fibro and pain and all of it is kicking up all the time, but I don't have time for it right now.
I miss everyone here too. I just can't seem to get a lot of time on the computer anymore. I'm seeing my endo tomorrow and I did get to do a little research, hope I can come on here afterwards and give you some hope, that docs do listen to us and what we have to say about our own bodies.
Keep a positive attitude Tori, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

Whew!, good thing I had a full cup of coffee. That was alot of reading!
Tori, you keep on their toes and don't let your dr blow you off. Maybe you should go in there looking like crap one day just to send a message. Frumpy clothes, no make up and smelling like tiger balm lol.

Geeze Glojer, you have been busy and a plate full as usual. I love your fighting attitude against the fibro. sometimes the busier we are the easier it is to toss it out of our minds tho. I hope your bros dementia can be controlled for a long time, you'll have to keep as close an eye on him as you can. I remember dealing with that with my Mom and Grandma. Keep an eye on their bill paying and account activity. People with dementia are easy targets for the scumbags.

You ladies keep warm and out of pain, sending a gentle hug to you both

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

Toolong that was interesting about the hyponatremia. Thanks for the info.

WW, thank you for the laugh. Hope your cup of coffee held out for you. Yes, I was very worried about the scam business when he was so out of it. Now my biggest worry is that it will happen again if he doesn't stay on top of it. It was such a simple thing that caused it and such a simple fix, but we were zeroed in on his type 2 diabetes and his not eating right and didn't even think of it being anything else. He has Liver disease and sees one of the worlds top docs for that right here in St. Louis. It was a simple blood test that determined his ammonia level in his blood was too high because of the liver disease and he takes a med for it and it took no time for him to come back to the real world. Of course if it starts happening again, he won't know it and we will have to tell him and get him to the doc again. Just another little bump in the road. Did you ever see the beginning of the soap opera Days of our Lives. It makes me think of that....Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives.....ok wait for me to stop laughing.....I'm ok now. Anyway, I don't or never did watch soap operas, but I just thought of that. I'm a little crazy today, love being that way sometimes. Hope you are doing good.

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

LOL, yeah, sometimes life does seem like a soap opera. I'm as good as it gets at the moment, thanks for asking. You know how it is one day at a time. So far (it's early) today is a good one. Like you I have no time to feel like crap right now. To many different directions to go in, good thing I'm a gemini and have the natural ability to do a few things at once and the fm helps me get majorly confused and dizzy at the same time. Like being on my own personal carnival ride. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Re: Dr not helping anymore, something else is wrong & really need help

WW, love the gemini reference. That's the twins isn't it. My daugters a gemini, I always tell her it means she has a split personality.....giggle. Now that she is a new mom, she will be learning that going in two different directions thing. Good for you, entering the smart phone world. My kids have those....well some of them do. I'm either too old or not old enough for one yet. Notice I said yet, I'm an optimist.

Tori....wish I could offer you hope for your doc. I went to my doc yesterday, and she is one of the good ones. She listened to me, but would not take action because of my 'always good' blood work. She did however say she would give me another blood test to see how the results come out this time. I am sure they will be fine, which is the story of my life. I have favorable results on blood work, but always all the symptoms. I won't give up though, where there is a will there is a way. We talked about a lot of things and I know what can help....so....I just might have to do that.
Hang in there Tori and keep us posted.
