Fibro and/or Hypothyroid

Hi all,
Ive been feeling pretty bad for two months, shoulder pain, cannot sleep at night, palpitations, sweating, cold hands and feet, anxiety, floaters, ringing in ears, pain in muscles, tight muscles,GERD, etc

Been tested for everything, had an MRI showed disk degeneration in my neck. I asked to have my thyroid checked bc two years ago i had thyroiditis which went to hypo and then back to normal. I didnt really have any hypoT symptoms so we just left it at that. I do have PACs which I went to a cardiologist whom is doing a stess test in a couple days just to make sure even though he thinks they are fine. MY endo dr, says the PACs could be from the hypothyroid.

I had bloodwork again for thyroid which showed higher TSH and low T3 so finally got dx hypoT. He wants me to start synthroid 50 mcg.

I also went to rheummy who says fibro needs to be treated now (been dx for a couple years but no real treatment except advil and muscle relaxants as needed). She wants me to start cymbalta.

So here is my question, if I have both can I take cymbalta and synthroid? I havent started either bc I was waiting on bloodwork results. I feel the cymbalta can help with my anxiety and help the neck pain but if I get my thyroid levels balanced maybe i will feel better too. UGH!
Any advice would be great Any one else have both fibro and hypoT? do you treat both?

Jess

Re: Fibro and/or Hypothyroid

hi jess,
me and my daughter jess. she takes both and no problems. i won't take fibro meds. they make me sick or depressed. i got enough sick and depression is thankfully not an issue with me nor anxiety.
just be sure you have blood tests on thyroid every 6 weeks. keeping it down between 2 and 3 is very helpful with fibro for me. if the cymbalta makes you feel worse stop and call your doc right away. there are several choices to try if that is your wish. treated or untreated fibro is still going to be an aspect of our bodies. i focus on keeping a happy heart and mind. a balance of light and dark, rest and exercise.
peace,
bluelakelady
