Painful, burning feeling in fingers and palm of hands?

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if this sounds normal for fibro? Just last week the fatty part above the thumb on my Right hand became painful. Then the thumb, and fingers began to hurt. My fingerpads are sensitive and very painful, especially when warm. Usually my hands are cold. I went to my regular doctor she said they seemed a little swollen and asked if I ate alot of salt which I did that day. She also tested me for carpal tunnel by having me move my hands certain ways. It is so painful and keeps me up at night. At night, they are tingly alot too.

Maybe this is just another symptom of fibro? It does feel like nerve pain. I do have shoulder and neck pain on the right side so maybe it is from that?!

Jess

I dont think its Raynauds because my fingers do not turn color. My palms are reddish though.

Re: Painful, burning feeling in fingers and palm of hands?

hi jess,
i have problems with my hands also. i have had carpal tunnel surgery, 18 years ago. what was her opinion about cts? i still have issues with my hands going out on me, ie not working, dropping things and not know it. and oh yea, it hurts too! giggle.
i sleep in braces and that helps a great deal. it could be related to fibro but that i do not know for sure. best to test, test, test and be sure. i remember when i had cts i would wake up screaming and crying. it hurt that bad and i am not a wimp!
peace,
bluelakelady

Re: Painful, burning feeling in fingers and palm of hands?

Thanks BLue! She said it didnt look like carpal since I didnt feel the numbness when she did the tests. Its is wierd when my hands are cold they hurt more, but they are wierd when they are warm too, kind of swollen. When they are cold my fingertip pads are wrinkled. So wierd! I am getting tested for celiac next week and I suppose this could be a symptom of that too
