protruding bone..

this is non-bunion related...i have a bony protrusion on the outside of my foot (both feet) midway down my foot...it doesn't hurt at all (not like my bunion/tailors!) but i was just wondering if anyone else had this or knows what this bone protrusion is called? my doc said that surgery is possible on that too, but it's more complicated because there's an artery/vein? in the way.. i think i'll just leave it for now, but it seems to be getting bigger (though not painful)... or maybe it just looks bigger cuz my bunions are gone now? well i just wanted to know if there was a name to this.
