Cortisone shot for bunion

Help! My Dr. is recommending a cortisone shot for my bunion. He claims it may or may not reduce the inflammation. Wearing my orthotics in tennis/running shoes is working just fine but I can't walk very far anymore and I need to do that for my exercise.

Aanyway, any of you ever had a cortisone shot for your bunion and if so, how painful are they and do you think it's worth a try?

I am really a wuss when it comes to this!

Appreciate any input.
Linda

HI,
I have tried the cortisone shots in the past but was not successful. I have since had surgeries and was told and have read that the shots are not good for you.

Re: Cortisone shot for bunion

Hi! I have had 2 cortisone shots - one on the side of my foot before surgery and one on my toe after surgery. They both helped a lot, but they only lasted about a week or two. They hurt a lot when they are doing it, but the Dr. goes slow.

~Good luck.
