Ankle Ganglion-Could it be Tumor?

It's going on 3 months now.. I have had x-rays,blood work, ultra sound and MRI. All tests ok, however MRI showed what appears to be a ganglion cyst on the inside of my left ankle, approx. 1"x3/4". My doctor is sending me to an orthopedic specialist but I can't even get an appointment to see him for 2 more months..It has been 3 weeks since my MRI and the cyst seems to be growing... but now it seems to be different in shape, it is not so defined and seems to have spread around my ankle bone.. which to my understanding is not consistant with ganglion. It is painful to the touch and swollen. Swelling does seem to go down while sleeping and swells as the day goes on. By late morning my whole foot is swollen to the point I cannot wear shoes.
I am concerned that it may not be a ganglion? Could it be a tumor? Any suggestions or advise?

Since the swelling goes down in the evening, I lean towards the cyst too. Have you tried taping it? I had one on the top of my foot and the doctor taped it with athletic tape. It went away in a few days.

After reading that here, I started a couple of days ago.
If anything having it wrapped up does help with the swelling. Thank you for responding!

Smile Re: Ankle Ganglion-Could it be Tumor?

I just wanted to thank you again for the advice. And to update you on what happened. I had 2 MRI's, the first confirmed Ganglion Cyst. After taping it and a little physical therapy. I had the 2nd MRI which showed the Cyst was gone. Still have slight swelling in that area which I am told is normal. But no more pain and should be fine. Great advice! Thanks Again
