When your feet feel like they are on fire-what does this mean ?

Hi all
I am new to this board and am very happy to have found this. Does anyone else experience this with the feet ? Mine mostly occurs when I go to bed, they feel like they are on fire. This does not happen all of the time. Hubby experiences it as well. Any advice as to what this is caused from ?
Thank you
Laura

Yes I experience it and you know who I am I live right across the street, and you probably have the same thing I have....

Laura,

You and hubby are not diabetic, are you? If so, get yourself checked for diabetic peripheral neuropathy. If not, I don't know I'm afriad!

Hi
Not that I know of (diabetic) even though it does run in both sides of our family....but why would this only happen when in bed ?
Thank you for your reply !

P.s. How do you reply to a message and still have the original so you can see it ?

Burning feet? Try atheletes (sp?) foot, it's contagious so that might be why you both have it. My husband has the same thing, burning feeling while he's falling asleep. Buy some stuff at the store, make sure you clean the shower out when you're done with it so you don't keep spreading it to each other, wear socks or something around the house for same reason. If that doesn't work, go see a doc

In my case, I never had burning feet until I got married. The difference was that my wife (now of 16 years) was using bleach on my whites. Not only did my feet burn and trick me into Athletes foot medication, I also chaffed really bad in my under-arms when I wore white T shirts. So...if you are using bleach on the whites...try cutting that for a quick solution.

Laura,

I imagine your feet only burn in bed because of difference in blood pressure to you feet when you raise them horizontally.....

My mother suffers from Peripheral Neuropathy caused by undiagnosed diabetes. It's worth having a regular check for diabetes if your parents suffer....unchecked diabetes eventually causes irreperable nerve damage so PLEASE get your blood sugar checked if you are in any doubt. I wouldn't want you to have the same fate as my poor old Mum......

Laura, My continuing experience with burning feet comes from plantar fascitis. (heel spurs) I,m slowly getting over that but feet burn sometimes at night. Sometimes during the day too. Dont know to much about the diabetes thing, but if that not the problem, go see a doctor about your feet. Do you stand alot? Thats most likely the reason I accquired this condition. If it is plantar fascitis, get it taken care of now! It only gets worse. To the point where you are in constant pain when ever you stand. Good luck. Bumbie.

Hi Laura
I have the same problem and have had my blood checked and went to the foot doctor. No results as to why this is happening. I also have shooting pains in my toes. This is very painful.. The have ran all types of xrays on me and still nothing is showing up. And I do mean all xrays.. I am going to keep on till I find out what is going on with them. I have heard that this has something to do with the heart but have had all those test done also. Nothing so far. Well I hope someone out there can help us all with this problem or let us know what they found out was wrong with them if they too have burning feet. I have this all the time not just in bed but the worst is when we lay down.. Good luck to all.........

burning pain usually (as a doctor once told me) means nerves ..... Nerve pain can come from inflammation-- which causes nerves to be "pushed up" and the snowball effect.....

WELL TODAY I FOUND OUT SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WITH MY FEET WERE COMING FROM AN ILLNESS THAT HAS BEEN IN REMISSION FOR SOME TIME NOW BUT IS BACK IN A BAD WAY. THIS PROBLEM IS CALLED POLYARTHRITIS. DURING THE TIME I WAS LOOKING FOR ANYTHING TO TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING. I HAVE A BREAKOUT OF SPOTS THAT LOOKS LIKE BLOOD BLISTERS, THEN THEY GROW TO A REAL BAD LOOKING SORE,AND THEN HAS A TERRIBLE LOOKING SCAB ON IT. IF YOU PULL THIS SCAB OFF LOOKS LIKE A HOLE GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE BONE THERE. ACTS LIKE IT EATS YOU SKIN TOO. MAKES YOU FEET SWELL UP BAD AND ALSO YOUR LEGS. THIS HAS GONE INTO MY HIP AND BACK AREA MAKING IT VERY PAINFUL TOO. IT IS TERRIBLE LOOKING AND VERY PAINFUL. THERE IS NO NONE CURE FOR IT AS WE HAVE NOT FOUND ANY DOCTOR THAT KNOWS WHAT TO DO FOR IT EXCEPT FILL YOU FULL OF STERIODS. NOW I AM ON VICODIN FOR PAIN AND PUT ME ON A PILL FOR MY NERVES. TOOK A LOT OF BLOOD TEST TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. I HAD A SHOT OF STEROIDS. I KNOW THAT HE IS GOING TO TRY TO PUT ME BACK ON PREDISON, BUT I WILL NOT TAKE THAT TERRIBLE STUFF AGAIN. LAST TIME CHAPEL HILL HOSPITAL HAD ME TAKING SO MANY OF THEM I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. IT MADE ME GAIN WEIGHT AND MOON FACED AND SICKER THAN I ALREADY WAS. SO NOW I AM REACHING OUT TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY OTHERS WHO KNOWS OF A DOCTOR THAT TREATS THIS ILLNESS IN SO MANY AREAS OF THE NET. SO IF ANYONE KNOWS OF SOME ONE WITH THIS THAT CAN GIVE ME INFORMATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I THANK YOU FOR ANY AND ALL THE HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME TOO.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE
