Wasn't sure I'd see this day!!!
After 8 months of visits to the podiatric surgeon, 4 months of fiberglass casts, 2 months of partial WB with a boot, 2 months of full WB and new balance shoes--my 5th metatarsal jones fracture is officially and totally healed!! My doc told me today that I needed to have a drink or two and celebrate--in his 18 years of private practice, I am the first patient with such a fracture to have it heal totally without any screw fixation. He doubted he would see such a day either without surgery. My insurance co. denied the authorization for surgery unless the fracture did not heal after 4 months. It slowly healed on its own and I guess I am VERY lucky in his estimation.
I do not have to go back to see him any more and no more therapy!! Woo hoo! I know that this forum has been a great outlet and support during the last few months. Thanks all!!
