I am supposed to have achilles lengthening surgery done on both sides, but won't do it. I'm scared to DEATH.
As I understood it they section off the tendon and pull it to lengthen it. I wasn't born with a deformity, so my reasoning is if it got in this bad a shape once, what's to stop it from happening again after the surgery?
I have fibromyalgia, and we develop tendonitis easily, so that's another reason for not having it done in my case.
I have severe foot pain from plantar fasciitis and terrible trouble with my heels. I guess I'd rather suffer that way than take the chance of losing my mobility altogether!
Good luck with your dedision, and I hope things work out either way you choose to go!
