Fell on cast

Hi all,
On Monday I had my two week post op appointment and got the staples out and the fiberglass cast put on. Ouch! The suture sites were already scabbing over, so it hurt when the staples came out. On Wednesday, I was sweeping the deck steps and lost my balance. I fell right on the heel of my cast. There is a screw in my heel, and I was afraid of a fracture. It felt like the cast shifted a bit. I went to the doctor on Thurdsay and they cut off the cast, x-rayed, and did an ultrasound to make sure I didn't have a blood clot. Everything looked fine, but I was really shaken up thinking I might have ruined all the work. I am hoping I didn't do anything to the transferred tendon. I have totally learned my lesson about trying to do too much. Today, the pain is gone, thank goodness!

Re: Fell on cast

Debbie,
I hear you! My son's class was coming to swim and I was cleaning the steps. I actually hired a cleaner this week to do the house work. I should have asked her to sweep the steps, but I thought it was no big deal. Before this, I was being very good and didn't do any cleaning etc...now I will go back to reading!!
