question for folks who have previously broken a bone

I am just (finally!) recovering from a navicular foot fracture. The Xray seems to show some healing, so my doctor has let me start walking around on the foot without the boot. It's been eight days now, and I've even taken two bike rides, and so far, so good - no pain, no increased swelling (in fact, I sort of think the swelling has decreased). I'm hoping this means I'm healed.

But today it's raining, and for the first time I began feeling a bit of discomfort in the bone. I felt it when the pressure started to change, in the middle of the night. Is that just coincidence -- might my bone still be struggling to heal? Or is it really true that once you break a bone, you always know when it's going to rain? Can some of you who have previously broken bones share your experience with me -- does your healed bone still ache a bit before a change in the weather?

Re: question for folks who have previously broken a bone

It has been just about one year since I was discharged by my foot/ankle doc for a broken 5th metatarsal, jones fracture. I did not have surgery, but my foot healed in the span of 71/2 months. Ever since, when it is rainy or very cold and damp, I have some discomfort on the side of my foot where the break was. I was told by my doc it may happen and to not be worried. I take one or two ibuprofen and it subsides a bit. I guess it is not that unusual.
I don't see my foot pain as a barometer for the weather, but I do think sometimes about the pain in anticipation of a storm--not that I change my plans, but I do exercise a little care in what I do and how I walk, even the shoes I wear.

I hope this helps.
