Question Tightness At Incision Site

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might help with tightness at incision site following foot surgery? It's been 7 months since my surgery and I am still experiencing tightness. Maybe it's scar tissue.

Thanks...Sharon

Re: Tightness At Incision Site

Have you tried firm massage, to soften the collagen? They also make these wacky stick-on sheets that supposedly soften scars, haven't tried it myself, but I've heard good things.

Re: Tightness At Incision Site

Hi Sharon, I had my Morton's Neuroma surgery in Sep., I do have some scar tissue that makes it a bit tight, you need to massage the tissue so it will break up and go away, I am still massaging mine and it is going away slowly.

Re: Tightness At Incision Site

I have been massaging, but maybe not enough. I am using bio-oil which is supposed to help with tightness. I don't notice much of a difference yet.

I also had mortons neuroma surgery in May. In addition to the tightness I also have numbesss where they removed the nerve (which I expected) and also soreness on ball of foot underneath incision site (that I didn't expect) How is your foot feeling after your surgery? I am not too happy yet with the results although I am told it can take up to a year for full recovery.

Re: Tightness At Incision Site

Sharon, I am pretty happy with my results, I was told it wasn't too big, but it sure hurt like it must have been the size of a golf ball, anyway, I do have a little numbness but it is slowly coming around, the only weird feeling I have is if I rub the bottom of my foot, it feels like someone is pulling strings in there, like a puppet, that is the only way I can describe it. My doc told me the same thing, that it could take up to a year, but I don't think I am going to take that long. I am betting yours must have been bigger so it hurts more. Keep massaging, I am still massaging, I think that the scar tissue will take a while to go away.
