Re: Why are my toes still numb after surgery?

What does the doctor say? How long since this second operation? Is it swollen? Did they remove any nerves?

Re: Why are my toes still numb after surgery?

Occasionally in surgery nerves are actually cut, and don't grow back.

More often, nerves are damaged or traumatized, and you have a numb area for a while. It's been a year since my foot surgery, and I just a couple weeks ago noticed that the numb spot on my toe is gone.

Ask your surgeon what he thinks

Re: Why are my toes still numb after surgery?

I'm 9 months out from surgery and I still have numbness on the top of my foot and in my 2 last toes. People who have not experienced this think it's no big deal, but it still bothers me when trying to sleep or when the water in the shower hits the top of my foot. My doctor says it's all par for the course and in time the feeling will return. Good luck!

Re: Why are my toes still numb after surgery?

I've had numbness and bad sensations in my toes, and ball of foot ever since mortons neuroma surgery 11 months ago. Very annoying to say the least!

Re: Why are my toes still numb after surgery?

I am 4 months post ankle surgery (tibia, fibula, dislocation) and the top of my foot is still numb. When I have adressed it to my surgeon....his only reply is: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT ! No explanation at all. Sounds to me as if it is not important ? To him, maybe....but extremely uncomfortable for me. Anyone else get this response ?
