pain or experience with wire removal in second toe dislocation osteotomy

Hello, I have had bunion and second toe osteotomy (total dislocation) surgery with two wires in second toe and screws in first toe. I am now 5 weeks out of surgery and I am in a non weight bearing boot. The first wire/pin was removed two weeks ago and the second will come out next week. After the wire was removed (no pain during) I had more swelling and pain. My foot feels like it has a bunch of marbles stuffed in it and then little spikes are sticking it. This especially happens towards the end of the day with more swelling. Has anyone had similar surgery and could share their experience with the wire/pin removal and also what your foot felt like after 5 weeks. Thanks, deedeeartist
