tingling in heel

Recently I have noticed a tingling/sore sensation in the heel of my right foot. It seems to be worst in the morning and does get better as the day goes on. It also tends to happen when I stretch my calf muscle.

Does anyone know what this is and what I can do about it.

I should also mention that I had surgery to repair ligaments in the ankle 2 yrs ago and that I do have tight calf muscles which causes shin splints in both my legs that I am working on stretching everyday.

Re: tingling in heel

OMG! I have the EXACT same situation going on as you described right now! How strange!
I have been noticing, in the past 2 weeks, a strange tingling type of sensation in my right heel, but only sometimes - such as when i lean over (and my hamstring and calf muscles get stretched), or when I turn my leg a certain way. Even if I am laying on the couch and i just pull my toes toward my body, I notice it.
So I finially logged onto ***** to check out my symptoms to see if it told me anything about what is going on with my foot....and then i saw your message.
I didn't find anything out yet, but if I do, I will let you know.
I'd had back issues in the past and recent past (i.e.-herniated disks), and I was wondering if this heel sensation has something to do with that. It doesn't hurt, it just feels similar to how your elbow feels when you bump your funny bone...just kind of numb or something.

Re: tingling in heel

Thats exactly what I mean. I don't understand what it is. I did ask a nurse who is a friend of mine and she had never heard of it. I figure its bc my calf muscles are really tight from my ankle surgery so I have been stretching them. I am also going to try new shoes to see if the cautioning in these ones is worn out. I'll let you know how that goes.

thanks for replying to me

Re: tingling in heel

Now there are 3 of us! I get tingling in the inside of my right heel when I bend down to touch my toes. This has been going on for months. I don't have any other symptoms or injuries. I think it's a pinched nerve, but I have no idea what's causing it. I'm 64. I hope this isn't from spinal stenosis and the beginning of the pain my 85 year old mother has experienced.

How long have you had this tingling?
