Just had MRI on ankle after having pain for one year

Have read many posts with great interest...Just had MRI on ankle after having pain for one year...Report that I have from Orthopedic Surgeon is a partial thickness tear of posterior tibial tendon that will not heal...He put me in a brace on first visit one month ago that immediately relieved the pain with weight bearing..still has one spot that is tender to the touch...On second visit when he gave me the MRI report and said that it will never heal, but stopped short of saying anything else because I was reporting to be pain free with brace...so he said come back in one more month.....think he didn't want to appear knife happy...but suspect on next visit he will suggest surgery to repair the tear..Said foot still has strength..so wonder if my surgery will be much less than the fusions etc that I have read about here...Anyone else only have tear repaired?? He said that I will be in non-weight bearing cast for a month..walking cast for one month and then a boot for one month...total of three months recovery time..

Appreciate any comments...especially about the amount of pain involved... Thanks....

Re: Just had MRI on ankle after having pain for one year

I had my PTT repaired with a tear and scar tissue that kept it from moving. I also had a bunch of other stuff done. If I only had PTT repair my dr. would have had me walking in a boot at 2 weeks post op. But, I had a microfracture done and so I was 6 weeks NWB and then I'm in a boot until the 10 week mark.
The pain from surgery was nothing. The pain in PT is a bit more. I'm not yet walking so I can't say yet how the long term recovery is.
