6 mo. checkup

Well I went in last Wed for my 6 mo. check. I was so happy for 3 weeks no pain and thought I was done with it. But the day before I went to see the doc you could have just as well cut the silly thing off it hurt so bad. I hadn't done anything different the pain just started again. So I ask the doc whats up with the pain: He replies: You had 3 whole weeks with no pain be happy. Then proceeded to tell me I will have good days and bad and on the bad I'm to ice and put it up and rest it. Man how depressing I really thought its only 6 months and I feel GREAT!!!!!!! So it goes to show you that if it feels good DON'T BELIEVE IT!!. It will come bad to haunt you.The good news is that if this last bout of pain goes away I don't have to go back to see him. YEPPIE!!! I have little or no swelling can make it thru Walmark and Cub before it lets me know I've had enough. The PF still flares up but it manageable. I've come along way of which I was told it could be a good year. I really am going to listen to my feet when they start to hurt I'm going to get off them. I don't want to go back to all that pain.
Hope this finds others healing well.

I'm with you. Some days no pain or discomfort then another pain and some swelling. I will say when it rains my foot feels worse or maybe it's just my lousy disposition! My Dr. always says wait for the year to be up - you will be great. I am with you as far as walking thru the big stores - I was at Costco yesterday and had no probems spending lots of money!!! Keep up the good work. Take care, Mar

Re: 6 mo. checkup

I am on the same boat with Walleye77 and Canuck46. Just a couple of weeks ago, I felt great. I had less pain and less swells. But today it is a different story, I have great pain and swells on a different areas (toward the front of my ankle). So I went back my old routine, elevated and iced the foot. I am like you all, did not do anything particular to cause the pain. As to the weather, it did rain today, temperature is falling, but still fairly hot/warm here. So I am not sure that the weathere has anything to do. Well, just have to live it this way and hope as time goes by (by 10 months post-op) the pain free is here to stay. (I am two days shy of 26 weeks post-op). Yaohua

Sure sounds like we all get to play the wait and see game. I guess the year mark is the magic time. We can only hope. Pain free days to all.

Re: 6 mo. checkup

I'm 6.5 weeks post-op. I have mild pain and swelling EVERY day but it doesn't get in the way of my doing anything. On rainy days it definitely hurts a lot worse. Just yesterday, in fact, it was hurting worse and I couldn't understand b/c the weather was gorgeous. Sure enough, it rained today, so maybe there was a connection w/ the barometric pressure dropping yesterday or whatever. I so don't understand these things. Everyone tells me a full year for the pain and swelling to subside.

Re: 6 mo. checkup

So we all have those awful bad days but I have been turned on to a all natural drink that takes the inflamation down. Its Cherry Concentrate, you put 2 tablespoons in a glass of water once a day. My husband tried it first as I have to get ok'd by my kidney specialist before I take anything new. He said it was ok and will help. I'm impressed so far. I got it at cub foods in the juice section, a little spendy around $20.00 for a good sixed bottle. You can also get it at a health food store. Give it a try.
I've now taken to taking headers into counters. When my foot hurts its like I can't raise it enough when walking to keep me from stubbing and sending me head first into whatever is ahead of me. Anyone else have this problem? I am scarred to death that I'll end up flying down the stairs.

I used to drink the cherry juice for my osteo arthritis in my knee and it did help. I never thought to do it for my foot. I think I will start again. I have been drinking elation which is glucosamine chondroitin made without shellfish and it seems to help also. I am very paranoid going up and down stairs - that is my biggest fear of falling. I haven't lost my balance just in walking and when my foot starts to hurt I stop walking and start icing. I am finding that when I am physically tired I do stumble more and have so far been lucky that I haven't fallen, but the worst is still the stairs. Mar
