Gout help...

Any tips for dealing w/gout besides anti inflammatories which I can't take due to 2 stomach bleeds. Just got a cortisone injection today, hope it helps. Can one have gout in areas besides the foot/big toe? Also, my doc said at this point in my attack which started 5 days ago a uric acid blood test might not show as abnormal....is that so? Thanks!

Re: Gout help...

I take Protinix, when I take Celebrex. Would something like that help your stomach deal with anti-inflamatories?

Re: Gout help...

I remember I was on protonix when I was on Celebrex a long time ago. I will have to ask my doctor about that...don't remember if it helped...been so long. Can Celebrex be taken as needed or do you have to take it daily? Say if my gout "attack" last a few weeks can I use for relief and then discontinue? I know with my pain management meds I can't take meds like protonix within a few hours of it's use. I'm also on meds for Bipolar. Feel like my life is a series of spacing meds! I go back to the doc in 3 weeks for a follow-up, I had an ingrown toenail removed today on the same toe with gout-OUCH!!!! Thanks .

Re: Gout help...

Try the home remedy - 20 canned tart pie cherries (NOT pie filling) per day. it works for lots of folks -did for me.

Re: Gout help...

Doc told me to take protonix, on days I took Celebrex. I don't the details of how it works, or of it will help you. But something to ask about.
