Re: need closed toe boot fratured heel

I bought a pair of Red Wing King toes, they have wider toe area, which helps. I fractured my calcaneous. Doc Marten makes a wider boot too. There are tons of good boot brands, you need to look for the right fit.

I am going to take the King Toes in to a shoe store and see if they can change out the hooks for the laces to rings or eyelets. I have been wearing the tops loose, and the laces face off.

Your probably going to want ride. I am not sure if the King Toes were wide enough for me. Also they are lower. I though that would be good because my achilles really bothers me, but I think the top digs into it worse.

Hindsight, I might have bought a cheap pair and wore it for a couple months, to see what style I like. Tough call, its good to have good boots too. But its a waste if they don't work out.

Do you have an orthotic insert? If you are getting one, wait to buy your boots if you can. So you can try them in the boots, they are pretty big.

I have found wool hiking socks really help, they have differant thicknesses. Your probably going to need a compression sock too.
