Peroneal Tendonitis

I was diagnosed with tendonitis a month ago, I took anti-inflammatories, rested and iced it for two weeks but the swelling didn't go down. I went back to the doctors and they prescribed me stronger anti-inflammatories, its been another two weeks and the swelling still hasn't reduced. The pain has lessened but it still feels very tender. I know tendonitis can take a long time to heal but I'm just concerned that the swelling has not reduced at all.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Any tips on what to do? Is it worth asking to be referred to a podiatrist?

Re: Peroneal Tendonitis

I am currently being treated for the same thing. My foot started hurting back in august, i figured it was tendonitis so i self treated with Ibuprofin. After four months I decided it was time to seek professional assistance and was referred to a podiatrist. MRI showed that I had a tear in the peroneus brevis. I had surgery two weeks ago to repair the tear and debulk the muscle.

It's worth getting checked out because the longer you wait the worse it could get like mine. Good luck!
