Peripheral venous insufficiency
I couldn't find a vascular forum to post this in so I selected "Foot Problems" instead.
My foot turns purple when I stand or sit, and it swells up after long periods. I have been diagnosed with peripheral venous insufficiency, and because of this I have to keep my leg elevated most of the day and night. I am retired so I keep my leg elevated 20+ hours out of a normal 24hr day.
Surgery is available but I can't even afford the co-pay.
Can I die from this? Will my foot or leg have to eventually be amputated if I just keep it elevated and do nothing else?
