Facing foot reconstruction

Well I was hoping that there would be an easy answer to the why I am still having pain when walking. But according to my ortho, heel ostemonies are the first course in hopes to correct the position of the foot. I have extremely high arches. In my case it didn't lower the arch enough to keep my from walking on the outside of my foot. Even with the orthodics. So now I have the decision of having the foot reconstructed done or live with the pain and stop doing activities become a couch potatoe and stay on the narcotics. Man this isn't a win win situation. Has anyone had foot reconstruction?
He did tell me all that is involved, the recovery time will be a bit longer than the heel surgery and there are no guarantees that the pain will be gone after the reconstruction. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Facing foot reconstruction

I never think that living with the pain is an option... especially foot pain because it affects everything. I can't help you with the high arches because I have flat feet. I had one arch reconstructed 7 weeks ago and am just starting to put my booted foot down. it is such a long recovery but if it works it will be worth it.
In your case, I would definitely get another consult with a different doctor just to get info on any other surgical options. It sounds like you have already had a heel osteotomy? Why didn't it work or did I misinterpret it? If you've already had surgery then maybe a PT can help you and break up scar tissue and teach you to walk again with a different gait? I wish you luck.
