Question Bilateral Chevron / EBIce cold therapy

I am scheduled to have a bilateral chevron in august and the dr office suggested the BioMet EBIce cold therapy system for post surgery. the unit is $200 and if it will help, i certainly don't mind spending the money. does anyone have any experience with this item or make any alternative suggestions? much appreciated!

Re: Bilateral Chevron / EBIce cold therapy

I didn't use this machine - I had a right foot Austin/Akin bunionectomy in Feb of this year and a left foot Austin/Akin bunionectomy two weeks ago. I think that's a lot of money for something you can do yourself. I don't have any experience with it so I don't know the benefits. I loaded up on bags of ice from the grocery store and made my own "ice bags" with ice and zip lock bags and a wash cloth. I used this method along with some ice packs that resembled frozen peas on and off for the first 5 days.

I've known some people who have had knee surgery that thought this machine really helped them though.

Re: Bilateral Chevron / EBIce cold therapy

I had my surgery on June 2nd of this year. I tried using the IceMan ($500). Problem is that the incision is on the side of the foot and between your first two toes. The foot is so very tender that you don't want anything touching it. I finally started using frozen bags of peas. They conform to your foot perfectly.
